Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of using animation media on students’ cognitive learning outcomes in Natural Science (IPA) at the fifth grade of SD Negeri 66 Kendari. The research employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method using the Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The sample consisted of 51 students, comprising 26 students in the experimental class and 25 students in the control class. The research instrument was a multiple-choice test administered during the pre-test and post-test. Data were analyzed using a t-test after conducting normality and homogeneity tests. The results showed that the average post-test score of the experimental class taught with animation media was 83.00, which was higher than the control class score of 66.28. The t-test result indicated a significant difference between the two groups, with t-value 13.477 > t-table 2.009 at a 0.05 significance level. Therefore, it can be concluded that the use of animation media has a positive and effective impact on improving students’ cognitive learning outcomes in science subjects at the elementary school level
