Sejarah dan Ilmu Sosial sebagai Dasar Pembelajaran IPS
Abstract
This study discusses how the integration of history and social sciences can shape students' critical understanding of past events and current social conditions. History and social sciences play an important role as a foundation in social studies learning, as they provide a conceptual and chronological framework for understanding societal dynamics. The research method used is a literature review, which collects and analyzes various literature sources such as scientific journals, academic books, research reports, and policy documents relevant to the topic of study. The goal is to identify previously developed patterns, concepts, and theoretical thinking, so that they can be used as a conceptual basis for formulating a comprehensive analytical framework. The findings show that the use of history in social studies helps students develop historical awareness, while social sciences provide analytical tools for social structures and processes. The integration of both strengthens students' critical, reflective, and empathetic thinking skills in dealing with social problems in their surroundings. Thus, social studies learning based on history and social sciences is key in shaping citizens who are aware of their identity, responsibility, and togetherness in society
