Abstract

This study aims to explore the integration of character education into Social Studies (IPS) learning as an effort to address students' moral crisis. The current moral crisis among students includes a low awareness of ethical values and responsible behavior in everyday life. In this context, character education is considered an effective approach to building a strong moral foundation through teaching values such as honesty, responsibility, discipline, and respect for others. This study used a qualitative method with a case study approach in several elementary schools. Data were collected through interviews with teachers and students, observations of the social studies learning process that integrated character education, and documentation. The results indicate that integrating character education into social studies learning can strengthen students' understanding of the importance of moral and ethical values in their social lives. Furthermore, this approach also helps students develop critical thinking skills and empathy for the social issues they face.
