Pemberdayaan Perempuan Dalam Pengelolaan Sampah Rumah Tangga di Kecamatan Wua-Wua Kota Kendari
Abstract
This paper with the thesis title “Women’s Empowerment in Household Waste Management in Wua-Wua District, Kendari City.” The purpose of this study is to identify and analyze women’s empowerment in household waste management in Wua-Wua District, as well as to examine and analyze the impact of women’s empowerment on creating a clean and healthy environment in Wua-Wua District, Kendari City. The results of the study show that overall, women’s empowerment in household waste management in Wua-Wua District, Kendari City, has achieved a significant level of success. This process has not only enhanced women’s knowledge and technical skills but has also fostered critical awareness, strengthened social solidarity, and promoted both economic and social independence. Consequently, this empowerment contributes to the creation of a more capable, equitable, and sustainable community while reinforcing women’s strategic role as agents of change in environmental development. Furthermore, the impact of women’s empowerment in waste management on efforts to create a clean and healthy environment in Wua-Wua District demonstrates that:1) The direct impacts are reflected in improved technical abilities, behavioral changes, and women’s skills in sorting and managing waste more responsibly.2) The indirect impacts include increased social solidarity, greater family participation in sanitation activities, and the emergence of new economic value through recycling and waste bank initiatives.3) The positive impacts indicate improved community welfare, a reduction in household waste volume, and increased self-confidence and social recognition of women’s roles
