Abstract

This study aims to determine the factors causing the occurrence of motor vehicle theft in Buton Regency and to determine the efforts made to overcome the occurrence of motor vehicle theft in Buton Regency. This study was conducted from November to December, 2016 at the Buton Police, This study is more comprehensive and objective, the data collected will be analyzed qualitatively and then described. The results of the study indicate that: The factors causing the occurrence of Factors that influence or cause the occurrence of motor vehicle theft (curanmor) in Buton Regency, are: The tools for theft are easy to find, such as making fake keys, screwdrivers, wires, and other equipment. The results are quite profitable and easy to market through networks (receivers), and easy to change the identity of stolen vehicles. The possibility of being caught is relatively small, due to the lack of evidence left by the perpetrator at the scene of the crime (TKP) There is no burden of responsibility on parking attendants, so they tend to be less careful in supervising parked vehicles. The security system for motor vehicles is still weak and the owner's negligence in securing their vehicles. There is an opportunity for the perpetrator to do it, either intentionally or because the victim happened to be negligent in securing his vehicle. Efforts made by the police in overcoming the crime of motor vehicle theft consist of two forms, the first is preventive efforts, namely activities aimed at neutralizing or eliminating factors that influence the emergence of motor vehicle theft, coaching for the community which is carried out by: Providing information, guidance and counseling as well as lectures to residents, students and students, community leaders,
