Abstract

The Research Aims (1) To find out the factors that cause extortion with threats of violence. (2.) To find out the efforts that can be made to overcome the occurrence of extortion with threats of violence. In the Research plan, the Author will conduct a research process located in the jurisdiction of the Laonti Police, South Konawe Regency. The results of the study (1) The factors that cause the occurrence of criminal acts of extortion and threats are caused by the following factors (1.) Economic Factors In general, the factor of economic backwardness with bad habits from the culture of "poverty" fosters material backwardness in poor community groups, this triggers an even greater intention to commit crimes in order to cover up the material backwardness experienced. (b) Environmental factors The family is the smallest group in society and is a place to receive affection between father, mother, and children, Environmental Factors; a. Family environment Social environment, A Greek philosopher named Aristotle stated that humans are zoon politicon or social creatures, meaning that in their lives they always interact/relate with other humans, one with another (2) Efforts that can be made to prevent or overcome the occurrence of extortion by means of threats (1). Pre-emptive efforts, Pre-emptive efforts are a series of activities carried out by the police which are aimed at neutralizing or eliminating factors which influence the emergence of fundamental acts of extortion (:2) Preventive efforts, Preventive efforts are a series of activities aimed at eliminating the opportunity for the occurrence of extortion, (3) Repressive efforts, These activities are aimed at conducting investigations into perpetrators of extortion, so that they can be submitted to the public prosecutor.
