Abstract

The Research Aims (1) To find out the efforts made by the police in overcoming gambling crimes at the Southeast Sulawesi Regional Police Criminal Investigation Unit; (2) To find out the obstacles faced by the police in overcoming gambling crimes at the Southeast Sulawesi Regional Police Criminal Investigation Unit. To obtain the data and information needed as analysis material in this writing, the author conducted a study by selecting a location at the Southeast Sulawesi Regional Police Criminal Investigation Unit. The research location was chosen by the author because of the rampant gambling cases that occurred in the area and were considered appropriate to the title raised by the author. Research Results (1) Efforts made by the Southeast Sulawesi Regional Police in overcoming Gambling Crimes are as follows: a. Pre-Emptive Efforts Are initial efforts made by the police to prevent criminal acts from occurring. b. Preventive Efforts These efforts are a follow-up to Pre-Emptive efforts which are still at the prevention level before a crime occurs. In preventive efforts c. Repressive Efforts, In cases of gambling crimes, repressive efforts or penal efforts carried out by the police, especially in the Southeast Sulawesi Regional Police, are by arresting and applying Article 303 and/or Article 303 bis of the Criminal Code to the perpetrators, then examining them according to the Criminal Procedure Code and applicable laws and regulations. (2) Obstacles or Barriers in Overcoming Gambling Crimes include Closed communities providing information The purpose of a closed community providing information is that when gambling crimes occur in the community, they seem not to care about the activity. This has an impact on the lack of reports received by the police regarding gambling crimes. b. There is backing from certain individuals Gambling as a social disease must be handled seriously. c. The perpetrators run away The purpose of the perpetrators running away is that when the police want to raid a shop or house suspected of being the place where gambling crimes were carried out, the gamblers are no longer there or have run away.
