Abstract

This study aims to (1) find out and understand the optimization of the role of Polri investigators in conducting investigations of a crime. (2) To find out and understand the obstacles to Polri investigators in carrying out their duties and functions as investigators. This study was conducted at the Kendari Police office. The reason for choosing this research location is that the Kendari Police office has more accurate data on investigation and investigation data for all cases that occur in the Kendari City area in particular and the Southeast Sulawesi area in general. The data analysis uses descriptive analysis, namely the data is presented in the form of classified tables and then given a response. From the results of this study, it was found that: (1) The performance of police investigators at the Kendari Police is very suboptimal because there are still many cases whose investigation process takes a long time and is protracted. (2) The obstacles for police investigators in carrying out their duties and functions are a) lack of witness participation in providing information in the investigation process, b) There are still many investigators with low levels of education, c) Limited number of investigators, d) Investigator salaries are still inadequate, e) Minimal investigation budget, f) Facilities and infrastructure to support investigator performance are inadequate. So that most investigators use personal facilities in conducting investigations. The lack of facilities and infrastructure at the Kendari Police greatly affects the performance of investigators because in the investigation process, facilities and infrastructure are very helpful in facilitating the completion of the investigation process. This greatly hinders the investigation process.
